Faith itself is really versatile as a pseudo GPP generator and culture/tourism generator/defense mechanism. Regardless I feel this is just Firaxis attempting to provide more complementary gameplay, just like how science and warfare are intertwined. So those pursuing culture victories should also develop their faith output, just like a warmonger should always keep an eye out for scienceĪll I know is faith is SEVERELY underrated around here. That Holy Sites don't evolve into concert venues is just a consequence of this being a game. Music and culture unites these days in the same way religion did in the past. The only weird part really are Rock Bands in civ6 using the resource but one can "justify" it as Faith evolving from the concept of religious worship to a general concept of "faith" in more than just deities. It makes sense for great people as religion has been an impetus for pretty much all of time. Religion has had a massive impact on human development since the ancient times and this should be recognized, for good or ill. On that point some people dislike its use as a currency or the very concept of religion in the game, but I find that a result of modern perceptions or biases. It can replace other yields in cities, namely production and gold. It basically allows you to supplement any strategy you are going for as Great People are ultimately very flexible. I'm rarely a fan of playing for a religious victory and even in previous games I only did it as a subset of a diplomatic victory (which encompasses far more elements).Īll I know is faith is SEVERELY underrated around here. The fact that AI puts such a focus on it makes it ironically a challenge, but it is rather boring when pursued on its own. The Religion victory itself is rather straightforward.
